COVID-19 and Mass Spectrometry at the Surrey Ion Beam Centre

This presentation provides a short overview of the Surrey Ion Beam Centre's contribution to the work of the COVID-19 Mass Spectrometry Coalition. This alliance is a collective mass spectrometry effort, aiming to provide information on the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on the metabolism of the human host. In so doing, the goal is to provide more sophisticated tools for assessing the likely severity of COVID-19 in patients. The work at Surrey is being undertaken by the Bailey Research Group using the mass spectrometry facilities of the Ion Beam Centre, and a paper outlining the aims of the coalition has recently been published in The Lancet (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31211-3/fulltext).
