The 9th meeting on Recent Developments in the Study of Radiation Effects in Matter will be held in Kyoto, Japan between 26th and 28th of October 2016.
The series of REM conferences has a tradition of 10 years, starting in 2006. The first successful meeting was held at Playa del Carmen, Mexico in
December 2006, the second one at Crete, Greece in September 2008, the third one in Gramado near Porto Alegre, Brazil in October 2010, the fourth

the seventh in Budapest, Hungary July 2014 and the eighth in Kerteminde, Denmark September 2015. The focus of the 9th REM will be on the recent developments in ion-matter interaction, ion beam characterization and ion beam modification of matter, especially the study of sputtering and ion solid interactions. The 9th REM is organized to honor Isao Yamada for his outstanding contribution in the development of novel ion beam processes utilizing the cluster ion beam technique.
