We are honored to host back again to its place of birth, the XI version of the Radiation Effects in Matter conference. With a history that started in Playa del Carmen (2006) in honor of Lew Chadderton. The second one was held in Crete, Greece (2008) in honor of George Carter. The third meeting was held at Gramado, Brazil (2010) in honor of John Davis. The fourth meeting was in Padova, Itali (2011) in honor of George Amsel. The fifth REM was in Kona, Hawaii, USA (2012) in honor of Jim Meyer. The sixth REM was in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, USA (2013) in honor of Mark R. Robinson. The seventh REM was held at Budapest, Hungary (2014) in honor of Joseph Gyulai. The eigth REM was held at Kerteminde, Denmark (2015) in honor of Peter Sigmund. The ninth REM was in Japan (2016) in honor of Isao Yamada. The tenth REM was held in Galveston, Texas, USA (2018) in honor of Wei-Kan Chu.
The meeting is intended to deal with current studies, new ideas and developments on the role of radiation in the synthesis, analysis and modification of new materials. And also to promote the exchange of ideas with other areas of expertise, studies on growth, characterization and properties of new materials- of carbonaceous materials such as fullerite and carbon nanotubes, other quasi one dimensional solids (e.g. nanorods) for example, and nanostructured materials generally, including nanocrystals. The topics include, but are not limited to:

Radiation effects in insulators, radiation-induced transport phenomena, the role of defects and impurities introduced by radiation, fission tracks, applications of ion irradiation and ion tracks, fullerene synthesis and properties, growth of carbon and boron nitride nanotubes, ion and electron-positron channeling phenomena, ion bombardment of polymers and applications, nonlinear effects in cluster stopping, novel applications of etched ion tracks, fission track thermochronology, radiation effects on the growth and nucleation of nanostructures, total current spectroscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, energy deposition and stopping cross sections, material damage and ranges, radiation therapy, and dosimetry.

The 1th REM is organized to honour Jim Ziegler for his outstanding contribution in the understanding of the interaction of ions with matter. His contribution via SRIM is almost legendary.
